Last spring (2017), I decided it was time for me to find a new job. I had learned a lot from 3 years managing events at Precoa but I was eager to grow professionally and take on new challenges.
Precoa has an excellent video team who creates recap videos for most company events so I had several outstanding videos to showcase the event work I did. It is hard to fit a video on paper : ) so I created a portfolio type website as an electronic, visually interesting version of my resume.
I have thousands and thousands of photos… but when I searched through them for decent looking solo shots of me I found 4 okay options. I usually take all the photos so I’m rarely in them. I slapped those 4 photos on my website and when I showed Lucas the finished website he said, “It looks like a travel blog.” The intent was not for the website to look like a travel blog. The intent was for the site to virtually introduce hiring personnel to a refined, capable, professional adult… which is hard to do when I’m wearing a napsack (wearable sleeping bag) in a national park.
While coordinating weddings, I’ve had the opportunity to meet some talented photographers. One of my all-time favorites is Jasmin Khajavi Photography. Not only is Jasmin incredibly sweet and always on top of things, I love her style of photography.
Thanks to these professional photos, hard work, a lot of luck : ), and a referral from a friend, I was able to land a great new job.
*The website has since expired and I don’t need it right now so it won’t be renewed
