My mom had two goals when she planned a family trip to Dillon Beach. 1: Take a new family photo 2: Spend time together and have fun! We crossed off #1 right when we got there so we could move on to flying kits and building sand castles. The whole gang made it! Parents, 4 siblings + significant others, and 5 grand babies.
While we were setting up the tripod and camera, a few of us stood in the shot to test it out. Joe Joe held up his hand with his fingers in an ‘L’. I asked him what it meant (knowing that it stands for loser) and he replied quickly, “I don’t want to tell you.” HA I don’t know why but this had be laughing all afternoon. Since I’m not around elementary age kids often I forget how quick they are.
Day 1: Beach + Tide Pools
The kids didn’t put on swim suits because we thought the water would be too cold to swim in. It turned out the kids didn’t care what temperature the water was so their clothes got wet (and came off ha) really fast. At one point, Joe Joe made fun of Carson for being in just his underwear so Joe Joe’s mom (my sister) made him give his pants to Carson and Joe Joe ended up being the one wearing nothing but underwear : )
Digging for sand crabs. Cami – “I’m so impressed that my shellac (nails that she did herself) still look perfect after an hour of intense digging in the sand!”
Tennyson at 7 weeks old. We don’t have a hat or sun shade of any sort for him so we had to get creative to protect his skin.
I think he loved the beach : )
Day 2: Beach Fishing + Flying Kites
It might not be apparent from the photos, but the wind was ROUGH so we didn’t last long on the beach. The fishermen started early and stayed long but the rest of us came, ate lunch, and left : )
Tennyson’s cousins were enamored by him. It was sweet to see the kids want to hold the baby or help him keep his pacifier in. Jane wanted to hold me so bad but every time she got a turn and the baby started to fuss she looked like she regretted her request. Yet she would ask again a few minutes later for her next turn to hold him.
