Strawberry season is here! Unfortunately it came and went much faster than most years because of a super long, cold winter, late spring, and sudden heat. BUT you best believe we made the most of the Hoffman strawberry milkshakes. We went 3 times!
The school did a Father’s Day breakfast and I got videos of the kids talking about dad.
Grandma, Papa Nate, Jane, and Claire drove up to visit us for a weekend. We had so much fun! We rode the Portland aerial tram where they gave the kids free t-shirts, explored the OMSI museum, rode public transit (the girls had never done that), went to DEFY (indoor trampoline park), picked berries got milkshakes and rode the train at Hoffman Farms, played in the backyard, and stayed up way too late. We’re all so happy they made the trip out!
I had a work trip to LA that included a Warner Brothers studio tour. I got to see the original Friends coffee shop set and Gilmore Girls town.
A family friend gave Murphy a rainbow CareBear 2 years ago and neither kid seemed to love it. Two weeks ago Tenny started carrying it everywhere and calling it “my little teddy.” He carries it with a hair brush we got from the dollar store.
Murphy wants to do EVERYTHING that Tenny does
Recently Tenny said he doesn’t want to use kid plates or cups anymore. He only wants to use glass plates like Lucas and I do so we’ve been trying that out.
Things Murphy says a lot lately. “No mommy” “Mommy daddy look!” “Where Tenny go?” “Why mommy?”
Murphy counted to 15 in Spanish while I was pushing her on the swing. Neither Lucas or I knew she knew how to do that.
We took the kids to the coast for a day to play in the sand.
Both kids say “Mume” (the name of Murphy’s teacher) every time they see an RV. We don’t know why but we think it’s entertaining.
The teachers say at school Murphy insists on putting her nap mat right next to Tenny. ❤️
I bought a waffle iron! Regular waffles are great, but I specifically bought this to make croffles. That’s when you put un-baked croissants in the waffle iron instead of baking them in the oven. We had them in Thailand and now I’m hooked.
Lots of weekend family bike rides. Typically they include a stop at the farmer’s market for a treat or the cranberry walnut bread we love.
I also bought a crepe maker pan. I’ve been craving crapes a lot lately and I wanted a faster way to make them. Big fan! Especially during berry season. Every time we go berry picking the first thing I want to do with the berries is put them in a crepe.
Lucas has been cooking on his grill outside a lot. Everyone is a big fan!
❌ Pits
Not a pit exactly but gross… Tenny found an abandoned pair of dirty socks in the sand pit at Hoffman Farms and he was so excited to fill them up with sand and swing them around. 🥴
Work has been busy for both of us. Lucas had 2 events happening at the same time. In an effort to be at both, he went from home to NYC and back in less than 24 hours.
Allergies have been extra brutal this year and our whole family is affected. The kids have both had an allergy cough for weeks now. No sign of letting up.
Murphy randomly had a fever for 24 hrs so we kept her home from school for a day. It has been a while since we’ve had sick kids home from school so we forgot what it was like to work from home with a sick kid. It’s very difficult hard.
There have been a few days when Tenny wasn’t listening at school and being a little sassy to the teachers. Thankfully he gets back to listening after we say he can’t watch shows on the weekend if doesn’t listen to and be kind to his teachers.
