After spending a week in Philadelphia for work, I took a $5 bus up to New York to meet my mom for the weekend. We’ve always dreamed about going to NYC together and the stars finally aligned so we seized the opportunity. It was exhausting because we crammed so much into each day but so much fun! This was definitely one of the highlights of the year for me.
Day 1
Serendipity 3 frozen hot chocolate, Central Park, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the best Belgian waffles we’ve ever had, the Museum of Natural History, the Empire State Building, 9/11 Memorial, impromptu mani-pedis, and the Chelsea Market
Day 2
Park Avenue, the best Belgian waffles we’ve ever had round two, Rockefeller Center, Top of the Rock, Times Square, got a little lost, Battery Park, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Charging Bull, dinner, and gelato in Little Italy
Mid day 2 we got on the subway to go from about where the theater is to Battery Park to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Although I picked the correct train I didn’t check to see which direction it was going and promptly fell asleep once we were seated on the train. I woke up about 30 minutes later and realized that the numbers which were supposed to be getting smaller were getting bigger and that we were probably in the wrong place…. We hopped off, got back on the same train going the opposite direction and we landed at our destination over almost an hour after we had planned to arrive. Oops! Sorry!
Day 3
Checked out of our Airbnb (1st photo below is the view from our window), Magnolia Bakery, church in the Manhattan Temple (the church building and the temple share a building), Aladdin on Broadway (SO GOOD!!), DUMBO Park, Ramen Burger.
The famous bread pudding at Magnolia Bakery did not disappoint!
